hearts wide open...

What do you do when you have been whispering the same prayer for years?  Whispering and listening and not receiving an answer?  But yet, you know in your heart, you are to keep whispering?  Keep offering up the prayer?

What do you do?

You keep praying.

You keep whispering.

You keep believing.

And then, just like that, the prayer was answered.

Welcome to my world this week.

After years of praying the same thing, of offering up the same plea, of believing that God was working for good, a prayer was answered.  In a mighty way.

And so, my heart overflows.  It feels as if it might just burst wide open.

I imagine this is how my Savior feels as He lavishes His unending love and abundant blessings over my family.  He continues, day after day, minute by minute, to cover us with His consuming love.  A love so deep there is no end.

'And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should,
how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.'
Ephesians 3:18 (NLT)

I stand amazed at how perfect His timing was in this particular situation.  I gaze eyes, heart and mouth wide open at the Heavens and sing praises to Him for His plan.

Rather than wallowing in the what-ifs and shoulda-coulda-wouldas, we bathe in His glory.  We claim this victory as part of our testimony.  We walk firm in His promises to us.

And whatever lies ahead, we keep walking.  Knowing and trusting that His plan is perfect.  Because we believe that through Him we have life.

'Come to me with your ears wide open.
Listen, and you will find life.
I will make an everlasting covenant with you.
I will give you all the unfailing love I promised to David.'
Isaiah 55:3 (NLT)

So as we bask in the glory of His unfailing love, we are off and running.  Running as fast as we can into His open arms.  Arms that are wrapped so tight around our hearts that we don't dare want to be anywhere else.  It is here, in these arms, that we have found hope and comfort and peace.  Truth and love.  It is here that we will stay.

'Our Master Jesus has his arms wide open for you.'
1 Corinthians 16:23 (MSG)
