{day 5} reflections of a Tiger fan...

My family and I are traveling to Tiger Town tomorrow for the game.

Our game day attire is ready.  Our plans for tailgating have been made.  Our tickets are safely tucked away until the morning.  And the camera is ever-ready to snap some precious photos of my two little joys as they experience their very first Clemson football game.

My heart flutters with excitement.  I haven't been back in town since 2007 for a game.  And one other time since then for a visit with friends.

Since I lived in Clemson for 10 years, I consider it my second home.  My heart holds a special place for the quaint little town nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains.

But you see, I'm a lot different than I was when I left Clemson in July 2007.

The person who lived in Clemson liked to party.  Like it was 1999.  And 1997.  And 2005.  She enjoyed happy hour.  She enjoyed socializing.  She made a lot of mistakes.  And quite frankly, she didn't look anything like a Christian.  Sad, but true.  So very true.

I'm not so sure I would recognize her.  Only I would because I was that person.

It's not fun to reflect on the person I was.  I don't think I like her very much.  And I positive we wouldn't be friends today.

But I am so thankful my God can take me from the person I was and transform me into something better.  Something more.  Something that reflects a little more of His image everyday {I hope!}.

Today, as I am giddy with excitement about returning to the hallowed grounds of my alma mater, I am also giddy with excitement over the work that Christ has done and continues to do in my life.  I can reflect on the person that I was and praise Him for the beautifully scripted testimony that He hand-wrote just for me.

And then I can turn my head forward, look to the Heavens, and say, 'Go Tigers!'

'Now we see things imperfectly,
like puzzling reflections in a mirror,
but then we will see everything with perfect clarity.
All that I know now is partial and incomplete,
but then I will know everything completely,
just as God now knows me completely.'
