{day ten} mr. sandman...

I have always adored my sleep. I've never been much of a night owl. I prefer to crawl into bed before the next day appears and sleep for the recommended eight hours {or more, if possible}.

That all changed when I became a mama.

Harper has always been a fairly good sleeper. But there is much to be done when my girl goes down for the night. Which means, I'm lucky to get the treasured eight hours of shut-eye. I average about six to seven hours of sleep most nights.

I spend all week dreaming of Friday night. Where I can crawl into bed and not wake up to the sound of the alarm clock. And on Friday nights I spend a little extra time in prayer that my sweet girl will sleep a little later than usual.

And for someone who never took a nap, I relish our Sunday afternoon naps after church. { Ahhhh, I can hardly wait until tomorrow.}

So, last night, after a wonderful supper out on the town with my family, my girl and I rushed home and jumped into our jammies.

At 8:15!

'Mama 'nuggle.'

Well, how could I refuse her this?

I crawled into bed and we snuggled.

{For the record, it was only us girls for the night, so she hunkered down with me for the night.}

Somewhere around 1am, I woke up and discovered that the TV and lights were still on. I got up and turned everything off and crawled back into bed to 'nuggle.

From my best estimations, I'm thinking we got about ten hours of sleep.

10 hours, y'all!

That's priceless.

No alarm clock. No agenda. Just the pure joy of my body deciding when it was time to wake up.

I am so grateful for God's grand design of our bodies. And the gift of sleep. It refreshes our minds and rests our souls. And then, we can conquer another day.

Let the housework begin! After a cup of coffee, of course.

'At this, I woke up and looked around. My sleep had been very sweet.'
Jeremiah 31:26
