Happy 1 Month, Sweet Petite!

Sweet Petite turned 1 month old on Monday.  Hard to believe it has been a month since she joined our family!  She took up residence in our hearts long before May 20, but somehow, she continues to take up more and more space of that residence with each and every day.

In the past month, she has changed so much since the day she was born.  She has warmed up to bath time, she continues to love her bouncy seat, and she adores being held.  This mama would hold her all day long if I could, but alas, household chores must be done and this is probably the only time in my life that I will be off work long enough to accomplish those chores during the week and actually enjoy an entire Saturday with my family.  And truth be told, it takes a full five days to clean my house these days, when a month ago I could clean top to bottom in a matter of hours.  But enough about that...

Sweet Petite loves her paci....which by the way, must match whatever she is wearing.  MUST.  If she spits her paci out, she does not have a problem letting us know.  She likes the comfort of knowing someone is close by, which means she is transported from room to room with us if we are going to be away for more than five minutes.  She loves rocking...on the front porch, in her room, or standing up.  She loves music and dancing.  She enjoys playtime on the floor, but she is not a fan of tummy time.

She calms at the sound of her daddy's voice and falls asleep easily on his chest.  She has started to half-smile at her mama when she is being changed...and then she fusses.  She fusses until she is given a kiss or picked up...and it warms this mama's heart.  I can't help but laugh.

There are two traits that she got honest from her parents...although I won't divulge which traits she got from mama and which ones came from daddy.  She has a tendency to be a bit on the impatient side...she can go from completely content to a complete hot mess in a matter of nanoseconds while her bottle is warming.  Again, I chuckle and tell her that I can't speed up time.  And, once said bottle is consumed, she turns into a stubborn mule.  She burps in her own good timing and not on demand...which has made for some interesting moments in the life of mama and daddy!  Of course, when she does burp immediately and we clap and tell her "Good job!", she looks at us like "What?  I did that because I wanted to."  Sweet Petite provides constant entertainment in our household.

She is a strong little girl and grunts all the time.  I'm pretty sure she is going to be quite the Chatty Cathy, although I'm not sure where she would get that trait from...I joke...she will get that trait honest, too.  From both sides of the family, no less.  Heaven help us now....Florence will not know what to do with a Griggs/Brown that does not meet a stranger.  As her mama, I promise not to let her go anywhere with both Papa and Daddy at the same time.  Once she starts talking, the three of them together in public could be an interesting combination since Papa and Daddy know everyone!

Sweet Petite has captured the hearts of mama, daddy and big brother....as well as the hearts of aunts, uncles, cousins and precious friends.  Little did I know how much I would love this baby girl!  Gracious goodness, this has been the best month of my life...in all my 32 years.  And I have no doubt that this next month will trump this past month....

Each day with you only gets better, Sweet Petite!  We love you more than you will ever fully understand!
