{day two} those who've known me the longest...

On this second day of November, I am thankful for those who have known me the longest.

My Mama.  My Diddy.  My big sister.

These three have known me since the day I was born.  They've known me through every stage of my life.  They've seen me cry and laugh and stumble and triumph.  They've loved me and supported me and encouraged me.  Even on my worst of days.

My Mama.  With her gentle spirit and quiet nature.  She has kissed the boo-boos, from scraped knees to hurting hearts.  She has hugged me and prayed for me and stood behind me.  Through it all.  She has whispered Truth into my spirit.  She has shown me how to train up a child in the way they should go.

My Diddy.  With his quick whit and quirky sense of humor.  He has made me laugh when I felt like crying.  He has supported me and guided me in life decisions.  He has lived a life full of faith.  A life dedicated to family and friends.  A life that has taught me how to pour out myself into the lives of others.  A life that gives with a humble and generous heart.

My big sister.  Who really is smaller than me.  Both in height and girth.  But she loves big.  Like only a big sister.  She has fought for me {and with me} because she keeps my best interests at heart.  She is strong and classy and funny and beautiful.  All the things I aspire to be.

These three.

Yes, these three.

They've known me the longest.  And love me anyway.

I am forever thankful for these three.  My three.  Where my roots were planted and my tree grew.  A family tree that can withstand the toughest and fiercest and strongest of storms.

'Some people are born into wonderful families.
Others have to find or create them.
Being a member of a family is a priceless membership
that we pay nothing for but love. '
