{day twenty six} when the unlikely are chosen...

Somewhere in the midst of your day, God has a way of showing you what it's all about.

Opportunities surround us each and every day.  Opportunities to share His love.  His grace.  His mercy.  Opportunities to tell the story of the Gospel.

Today, I stand in awe of an opportunity that came my way yesterday.  An opportunity that I will forever be grateful for.

Yesterday afternoon, a long-lost friend reached out to me during a time of need.  A time when she needed some encouragement and hope.  A time when the first person that crossed her mind was me.  Me, just a gal who has been completely transformed by His grace. Me, just a wreck of a girl who adores her Savior.  Me, a girl who looks nothing like she did the last time I saw my friend.  Me, an unlikely choice chosen to share His love.

And you know what happened during the conversation?

She was able to pour herself out.  All her struggles. All her fears.  All her doubts.  And I was able to pour out some Truth over her.  I pray I was able to give her a little bit of hope.  A small glimmer, a tiny taste of His abounding love for her.

I have spent the better part of the day in constant prayer for her.  Not only for her struggles and doubts and fears, but also for her friendship and the blessing she has given me.

Will you pray with me?  For her?

May she know she is wonderfully and fearfully made.  May she recognize the schemes of the Enemy and put on the full armor of God.  May she believe in her own strength and wisdom and beauty and use it to further the Kingdom.  May God raise up a friend to stand alongside her in a city of so many people.  And may she find hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

In the course of any given day, I get a whole lot wrong.  A whole, whole lot.  But when given the opportunity to share Jesus with a dear friend, a girl I've loved a long, long time, my heart bubbles over with gratitude.

Hope and encouragement.

Sometimes they can be found through the unlikely.

'May the hope of God fill you with all joy
and peace as you trust in Him,
so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.'
Romans 15:13
