excuse me, aren't you only 21 months....

And just like that, you turn 21!

She's one sassy girl!

While it is only 21 months, you act as if you are 21 years old.  With an attitude to take on the world.

Harper, this month has met us with many challenges.

You are exerting your independence more and more.  And expressing your frustrations by pushing, pulling hair and acting aggressively towards others.  What used to be a defiant 'no', is now an all out battle.  I spend a lot of time praying this phase passes without any lasting scars.  For either of us.

You tend to move at your own pace {a snail's pace} in the morning!

You are so smart.  It blows my mind.  You can say your ABCs and count to 20.  You are learning to recognize colors.  And you speak in complete sentences.  You enjoy story time and watching Dora.  Every so often you bust out with a 'Holla!' or 'Donde esta?'  It cracks me up every time!

My lil' bookworm

You are kind.  You love to share.  Kisses, snacks.  It doesn't matter.  Your caring heart pours out of you in the smallest of moments.

Heart not appliqued to scale.

You love foo naks {read:  fruit snacks}.  And pizza.  If we ask you what you want for supper, you inevitably respond with 'pizza!'  And as much as I love pizza, I can't eat it as much as you.

We are still heavy in the throes of potty training.  Each day gets better and better.  I am learning quickly that you must see every potty in Florence while we are running errands.  There is no such thing as a quick trip anymore.

We both need a nap after running errands.

You are wearing size 24 months-2T clothes, a size 6 shoe, and a size 2T-3T pull-up. According to the bathroom scales, you weigh almost 28 pounds.  You have 16 teeth, but based on the way you have been chewing on things, I think you may be trying to cut your two-year molars.

Your hair is getting longer and it is starting to curl in the back.  Daddy pulled your hair into a ponytail on Sunday and I wanted to cry because it was so stinkin' cute.

You are a huge fan of bubble baths, music, crayons, and books.  You love to take a wipe and pretend to clean house.  And you pretend to cook and then feed us your latest concoction.  You are definitely a good blend of both me and your Daddy.

You ask to go to church everyday, but you call it 'Rachel's' house.  Rachel is your Sunday School teacher {and Mama's friend}, so you think we go to Rachel's house a lot.  My heart swells.  I want Jesus to be your best friend.

You display early signs of being a girly-girl.  You ask for 'ip-sick' {read: lipstick} and 'er-fum' {read: perfume} every morning.  You love to brush your hair and have your fingernails clipped.  You adore lotion.  And you are obsessed with shoes.  Oh, and quite possibly one of my proud mommy moments...you ask for a hairbow every morning.  Bestill my heart!

It snowed last weekend.  And you were not the least bit interested.  We opened the front door for you to see it falling and you replied, 'Snow go bye-bye.  It cold outside.'  I was thinking the exact same thing.  We spent the weekend bundled under blankets and watching Charlotte's Web and Dora.  Bring on Spring and the beach, right baby?!

Getting read to brave the cold walk to the car.

Harper, you are the light of my days.  Being your mama is everything I ever dreamed of and so much more.  You fill me with joy and gladness.  Your daddy and I love you more today than we did yesterday.  And we know without a doubt, that we will love you more tomorrow.  You are beautiful from the inside out.  You are brilliant.  You are kind.  And you are loved!

Above all, you are loved.

Happy 21 months, Harper!
