reason #7 why my girl lights up my world...

We started the countdown today.  You know, the one where my baby turns 2 next Monday.  Yeah, that one.  I'm doing my best to psych myself up for it, but the truth is, I really just want to shrink her back to the size she was the day she was born. To sniff her sweet head and just look at her snoozing peacefully.

Oh, how the times have changed.

Most days the top of her head has enough sand to build a castle and she smells of sweat and sunscreen.  But I love it just the same!

I thought it would be fun to spend the next few days basking in all the things that make her who she is and who she is becoming.   To spend these last few moments of time--where I can lovingly refer to her age in months-- splashing around in all the ways she brings joy to our lives.

If it doesn't sound like fun for you, that's okay.  But give it a try with your little one, no matter the age.  I promise, you'll have the time of your life.

My girl.  Only seven days until your birthday.  Your 2nd birthday.  Yes, you have seven birthday outfits {eight really, but that is because your birthday party at school will be the day after your actual birthday}.  It's okay to think your mama is weird.  I've accepted it.  I'm cool with it.

You are head-strong.  Fiercely stubborn.  Stubbornly independant.

Traits that will bode well for you as you grow and mature.  But these same traits can stunt your growth, if you allow it.

You adamantly will declare, 'No!  Harper not want to.'

It's important for you to know that life is full of things you don't want to do.  But pushing past the not want to and heels dug deep stubbornness will help explore new horizons and grow stronger.

Every morning you insist on buckling or tying your shoes.  And you refuse help, no matter how long you've spent trying.

Sweet girl, remember this.  Asking for help is never a sign of weakness.  Rather a sign of strength and wisdom.  Don't forge through this life always insisting you do everything.  Seek help for tasks that seem insurmountable.  Mama is always a whisper away.

Remember who you are and what you believe.  Don't ever allow someone to make you feel weak or unworthy.  Keep blazing a trail and lighting the hearts around you on fire.  You spread joy like wildfire, my angel.  Keep burning bright!
