there are power in words.
those things we say or write have the ability to heal or kill.
'the tongue can bring death or life;
those who love to talk will reap the consequences.'
those who love to talk will reap the consequences.'
proverbs 18:21
ask me how i know.
i have my fair share of flippant words.
spoken before giving thought to where they will land or the damage they could cause.
i also know all too well how a heart can be ripped to shreds from the grenade of thoughtless syllables.
my heart is learning to tame my tongue.
to choose words wisely; imparting grace to ears desperate for life-long grace
more times than i care to remember, i have gnawed my tongue slap in two.
choking back words of death.
praying life bubbles up in place of the venom that threatens to spew.
yesterday i checked something off my bucket list.
compliments of my husband and our five-year anniversary getaway.
saddled up on a Tennessee walking horse named wizard, we embarked on a coastline tour of st. helena sound.
my type-a self was nervous about my ability to actually ride a horse.
i learned quickly how to control the reigns, guiding my stead in the direction to ride.
it was a humbling experience.
as we were breathing deep the beautiful sights, these words tumbled about in my soul.
and knew He was giving me life-changing words to bury deep.
'we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us. with these bits we can control their whole body.'
james 3:3
the same is true with our tongue.
our words unleashed direct our behavior.
letters strung together can weave threads of grace into the hearts around us; sewing shreds of death back to new.
may the tapestry of our words impart grace causing life and love to spring forth.
beautiful wisdom
